My photographs are essentially autobiographical. The scenes and characters I create are inspired by people and places I remember from childhood. Packed with icons of the lowbrow, my images become humorous observations of the blue-collar community that I grew up in. Each scene, though appearing as a snapshot of a typical moment, is carefully constructed with every detail considered. Cigarettes, sunburns, Budweiser, and Christmas decorations are just some of the things that, for me, are strongly associated with the people that make up the population of my hometown. My approach, however, is not wholly unsympathetic. The images also serve as strangely comforting reminders of home.
